MCARE 2024 Scholarship Information

 MCARE now has  (4) four scholarships for $3,000 per scholarship!

This membership benefit was created exclusively for the son; daughter; grandson; or granddaughter of a current or a deceased MCARE member. Please don’t confuse MCARE with MCERA which is the Marin County Employees Retirement Association. They manage our retirement funds and benefits; whereas, MCARE is a voluntary, member-supported association of retired local government and safety employees.

Scholarships will be awarded to the top students meeting our criteria who are pursuing higher education and/or third-level or tertiary education or continuing education (college, university, vocational programs such as nursing, police or fire academies, or a trade school).

The scholarships are named in honor of three deceased members who contributed greatly to your Association and a member who ???:

  • MCARE Scholarship Honoring Tom Hendricks to a graduating high school senior;
  • MCARE Scholarship Honoring Bob Roumiguiere to an undergraduate and/or a student currently enrolled in higher education and/or third -level or tertiary education or continuing education (college, university, vocational programs such as nursing, police or fire academies, or a trade school); and
  • MCARE Scholarship Honoring Joe Coffrini to a graduate student and/or a student currently enrolled in higher education and/or third -level or tertiary education or continuing education (college, university, vocational programs such as nursing, police or fire academies, or a trade school).
  • NEW for 2024!  MCARE Scholarship Honoring Michael Daly.

The application deadline and criteria are final - no exceptions. The application and all accompanying documentation (school transcript, 3 letters of recommendation & photo) must be received by Marin County Office of Education No later than TBA.

Interviews will be conducted on TBA .  Interviews will be conducted by the Marin County Office of Education’s Selection Committee. They are flexible regarding requirement to be present for the interview.

I encourage MCARE members to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. The economy has made it more challenging each year for students to further their education, this scholarship offers some assistance.
