MCARE is the Voice of Current and Future MCERA RetireesValue, Voice and Visibility |
This membership benefit was created exclusively for the child, stepchild or grandchild of a current or deceased MCARE member. Please don’t confuse MCARE with MCERA which is the Marin County Employees Retirement Association. They manage our retirement funds and benefits; whereas, MCARE is a voluntary, member-supported association of retired local government and safety employees.
We have four scholarships this year thanks to a generous MCARE member, Michael Daly! Applicants must be either entering or currently enrolled in college, university, or third-level or tertiary education or continuing education (vocational programs such as nursing, police or fire academies, or a trade school).
The awarding of the scholarships will be to the top students based solely on the overall qualifications of the applicants and at the sole discretion of the MCOE scholarship committee and all decisions will be final.
The scholarships are named in honor of three deceased members who contributed greatly to your Association and a member who has stepped forward and is funding a new 4th scholarship:
The application deadline and criteria are final - no exceptions. The application and all accompanying documentation (school transcript, 3 letters of recommendation & photo) must be received by Marin County Office of Education No later than April 18, 2024.
Interviews will be conducted on TBA . Interviews will be conducted by the Marin County Office of Education’s Selection Committee. They are flexible regarding requirement to be present for the interview.
I encourage MCARE members to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. The economy has made it more challenging each year for students to further their education, this scholarship offers some assistance.
You can download an application which you can fill out and mail to MCOE.
