Voting for At Large Directors Opens. You can vote online via an e-mail ballot you will be sent OR you can print a ballot from the KIT Newsletters. IF you do not vote by electronic or printed ballot you can vote at our Annual Membership meeting in November IF you've NOT voted by electronic or printed ballot.

The Officers whose term expires 12/31/26 are:

The Board currently is nicely balanced with representation from a few of the 9 agencies which belong to MCERA. Today’s Board has three (3) Marin County Retirees and three (3) City of San Rafael Retirees and one (1) each from Novato Fire and Marin/Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District.

Luncheons are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Time: Social hour at 11:30 am - Lunch at 12:00 pm - Note time for lunch

Price: $28.00 per person

Menu :

Chicken Piccata- With lemon, butter, garlic, capers, and white wine
Grilled Salmon with mango papaya salsa served with starch and vegetables
Spaghetti Carbonara pancetta, onion, garlic, egg, parmesan
Eggplant parmigiana (vegetarian)

Desert: Strawberry Sundae

The meal includes a club salad with cranberries, oranges, walnuts, and blue cheese crumbles, sliced sourdough basket on each table and napkins and bread plate and will have water on each table and iced tea with sliced lemons and coffee available on a side table.

I'm a California native son, moved from Fresno to Marin after college. I was hired by the County as a death investigator in 1975. After 9 years I was appointed as the Asst. Coroner and 14 years later I ran for and was elected as the Coroner for Marin. I served three full terms and retired in January 2011.

I raised my 2 children in Marinwood and currently live in Novato. I have hunted and fished all my life; I coached youth athletics while my kids were growing up. I now watch my 8 grandchildren in their youth sports.

In my spare time I am working on my second book chronicling interesting cases that happened during my tenure in the Marin Coroner's office.

I have been an MCARE At-Large Director since January 1, 2023, and am the Scholarship Committee Chair.

Reservations are encouraged because Ken is a popular speaker and reservations they help us with the head count for the restaurant.

Reservation deadline is Friday October 9, 2026.

Speaker - Jeff Wickman

Jeff Wickman has been the Retirement Administrator for the Marin County Employees’ Retirement Association (MCERA) for the past 14 years. He joined MCERA in in August 2010, bringing over 20 years of experience in public pension system management. As Administrator, he oversees the $3.3 billion dollar trust fund managing the day to day operations of MCERA and working with the Retirement Board on administrative, financial and investment matters.

MCARE SCHOLARSHIP RAFFLE

There will be a raffle for our scholarship fund and we encourage you to bring a donation for the prizes. We need items like bottles of wine, boxes of candy, gift baskets, gift cards, specialty gifts, plants, etc.

GREAT NEWS. Santa is coming to our Holiday Party. A representative from the SantaCop – First Responder Elves program will be there to collect UNWRAPPED toys, for both boys & girls 8 to 12 years. Gift cards at Target, or wherever, $20 value are fantastic.If you bring something for the Santa Cop program, or raffle gift, you will receive 2 FREE raffle tickets per PERSON.

The SantaCop – First Responder Elves program is very much alive and well in our 26th year.

Since the inception of SantaCop in 2000, the program has evolved and grown. The initial participants of International Footprint Association (IFA Chapter 15), San Rafael Police Association and San Rafael Firefighters Association have been joined by many more of our local heroes.

Our partners include Marinwood FD, Kentfield FD, Central Marin Fire (Larkspur / Corte Madera), Tiburon FD as well as Marin Corps Salvation Army and US Coast Guard Pacific Strike Team. Last year we teamed with Marin County Sheriff Deputies and Marin County Fire Department, Pt Reyes Station, to bring the magic of the season to children in west Marin.

Our red SantaCop collection barrels will be ready for donations at all participating fire stations and select retail location as of November 6th. We ask for new, unwrapped toys for all ages (infants to 12years). We very much need treasures for both boys & girls ages 8 to 12. Gift cards are always appreciated.
